Corinthians II 9:1

^{A + B} Aþþan bi andbahti þatei rahtoda du weihaim, ufjo mis ist du meljan izwis;

— περὶ μὲν γὰρ τῆς διακονίας τῆς εἰς τοὺς ἁγίους περισσόν μοί ἐστιν τὸ γράφειν ὑμῖν,

— Nam de ministerio, quod fit in sanctos ex abundanti est mihi scribere vobis.

— For as touching the ministering to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you:

— Want van de bediening, die voor de heiligen geschiedt, is mij onnodig aan u te schrijven.

— Il est superflu que je vous écrive touchant l'assistance destinée aux saints.

Corinthians II 9:2

^A unte wait gairnein izwara, þizaiei fram izwis ƕopam at Makidonim, unte Akaja gamanwida ist fram fairnin jera, jah þata us izwis aljan uswagida þans managistans.

— οἶδα γὰρ τὴν προθυμίαν ὑμῶν ἣν ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν καυχῶμαι μακεδόσιν ὅτι ἀχαΐα παρεσκεύασται ἀπὸ πέρυσι, καὶ τὸ ὑμῶν ζῆλος ἠρέθισεν τοὺς πλείονας.

— Scio enim promptum animum vestrum : pro quo de vobis glorior apud Macedones. Quoniam et Achaia parata est ab anno præterito, et vestra æmulatio provocavit plurimos.

— For I know the forwardness of your mind, for which I boast of you to them of Macedonia, that Achaia was ready a year ago; and your zeal hath provoked very many.

— Want ik weet de volvaardigheid uws gemoeds, van welke ik roem over u bij de Macedoniers, dat Achaje van over een jaar bereid is geweest; en de ijver, van u begonnen, heeft er velen verwekt.

— Je connais, en effet, votre bonne volonté, dont je me glorifie pour vous auprès des Macédoniens, en déclarant que l'Achaïe est prête depuis l'année dernière; et ce zèle de votre part a stimulé le plus grand nombre.

Corinthians II 9:3

— ἔπεμψα δὲ τοὺς ἀδελφούς, ἵνα μὴ τὸ καύχημα ἡμῶν τὸ ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν κενωθῇ ἐν τῷ μέρει τούτῳ, ἵνα καθὼς ἔλεγον παρεσκευασμένοι ἦτε,

— Misi autem fratres : ut ne quod gloriamur de vobis, evacuetur in hac parte, ut (quemadmodum dixi) parati sitis :

— Yet have I sent the brethren, lest our boasting of you should be in vain in this behalf; that, as I said, ye may be ready:

— Maar ik heb deze broeders gezonden, opdat onze roem, dien wij over u hebben, niet zou ijdel gemaakt worden in dezen dele; opdat (gelijk ik gezegd heb) gij bereid moogt zijn;

— J'envoie les frères, afin que l'éloge que nous avons fait de vous ne soit pas réduit à néant sur ce point-là, et que vous soyez prêts, comme je l'ai dit.

Corinthians II 9:4

— μή πως ἐὰν ἔλθωσιν σὺν ἐμοὶ μακεδόνες καὶ εὕρωσιν ὑμᾶς ἀπαρασκευάστους καταισχυνθῶμεν ἡμεῖς, ἵνα μὴ λέγω ὑμεῖς, ἐν τῇ ὑποστάσει ταύτῃ.

— ne cum venerint Macedones mecum, et invenerint vos imparatos, erubescamus nos (ut non dicamus vos) in hac substantia.

— Lest haply if they of Macedonia come with me, and find you unprepared, we (that we say not, ye) should be ashamed in this same confident boasting.

— En dat niet mogelijk, zo de Macedoniers met mij kwamen, en u onbereid vonden, wij (opdat wij niet zeggen: gij) beschaamd worden in deze vasten grond der roeming.

— Je ne voudrais pas, si les Macédoniens m'accompagnent et ne vous trouvent pas prêts, que cette assurance tournât à notre confusion, pour ne pas dire à la vôtre.

Corinthians II 9:5

^A naudiþaurft nu man bidjan broþruns, ei galeiþaina du izwis jah fauragamanwjaina þana fauragahaitanan aiwlaugian izwarana, þana manwjana wisan swaswe wailaqiss jan~ni swaswe bifaihon.

— ἀναγκαῖον οὖν ἡγησάμην παρακαλέσαι τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς ἵνα προέλθωσιν εἰς ὑμᾶς καὶ προκαταρτίσωσιν τὴν προεπηγγελμένην εὐλογίαν ὑμῶν, ταύτην ἑτοίμην εἶναι οὕτως ὡς εὐλογίαν καὶ μὴ ὡς πλεονεξίαν.

— Necessarium ergo existimavi rogare fratres, ut præveniant ad vos, et præparent repromissam benedictionem hanc paratam esse sic, quasi benedictionem, non tamquam avaritiam.

— Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up beforehand your bounty, whereof ye had notice before, that the same might be ready, as a matter of bounty, and not as of covetousness.

— Ik heb dan nodig geacht deze broeders te vermanen, dat zij eerst tot u zouden komen, en voorbereiden uw te voren aangedienden zegen; opdat die gereed zij, alzo als een zegen, en niet als een vrekheid.

— J'ai donc jugé nécessaire d'inviter les frères à se rendre auparavant chez vous, et à s'occuper de votre libéralité déjà promise, afin qu'elle soit prête, de manière à être une libéralité, et non un acte d'avarice.

Corinthians II 9:6

^A þatuþ~þan, saei saijiþ us gaþagkja, us gaþagkja jah sneiþiþ, jah saei saijiþ in þiuþeinai, us þiuþeinai jah sneiþiþ.

^B þatuþ~þan, saei saiiþ us gaþagkja, us gaþagkja jah sneiþiþ, jah saei saiiþ in þiuþeinai, us þiuþeinai jah sneiþiþ.

— τοῦτο δέ, ὁ σπείρων φειδομένως φειδομένως καὶ θερίσει, καὶ ὁ σπείρων ἐπ' εὐλογίαις ἐπ' εὐλογίαις καὶ θερίσει.

— Hoc autem dico : qui parce seminat, parce et metet : et qui seminat in benedictionibus, de benedictionibus et metet.

— But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.

— En dit zeg ik: Die spaarzamelijk zaait, zal ook spaarzamelijk maaien; en die in zegeningen zaait, zal ook in zegeningen maaien.

— Sachez-le, celui qui sème peu moissonnera peu, et celui qui sème abondamment moissonnera abondamment.

Corinthians II 9:7

^B ƕarjizuh swaswe fauragahugida hairtin, ni us trigon aiþþau us nauþai, unte hlasana giband frijoþ guþ.

— ἕκαστος καθὼς προῄρηται τῇ καρδίᾳ, μὴ ἐκ λύπης ἢ ἐξ ἀνάγκης, ἱλαρὸν γὰρ δότην ἀγαπᾷ ὁ θεός.

— Unusquisque, prout destinavit in corde suo, non ex tristitia, aut ex necessitate : hilarem enim datorem diligit Deus.

— Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

— Een iegelijk doe, gelijk hij in zijn hart voorneemt; niet uit droefheid, of uit nooddwang; want God heeft een blijmoedigen gever lief.

— Que chacun donne comme il l'a résolu en son coeur, sans tristesse ni contrainte; car Dieu aime celui qui donne avec joie.

Corinthians II 9:8

^B aþþan mahteigs ist guþ alla anst ufarassjan in izwis, ei in allamma sinteino allis ganauhan habandans ufarassjaiþ in allamma waurstwe godaize,

— δυνατεῖ δὲ ὁ θεὸς πᾶσαν χάριν περισσεῦσαι εἰς ὑμᾶς, ἵνα ἐν παντὶ πάντοτε πᾶσαν αὐτάρκειαν ἔχοντες περισσεύητε εἰς πᾶν ἔργον ἀγαθόν,

— Potens est autem Deus omnem gratiam abundare facere in vobis : ut in omnibus semper omnem sufficientiam habentes, abundetis in omne opus bonum,

— And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

— En God is machtig alle genade te doen overvloedig zijn in u; opdat gij in alles te allen tijd, alle genoegzaamheid hebbende, tot alle goed werk overvloedig moogt zijn.

— Et Dieu peut vous combler de toutes sortes de grâces, afin que, possédant toujours en toutes choses de quoi satisfaire à tous vos besoins, vous ayez encore en abondance pour toute bonne oeuvre,

Corinthians II 9:9

^B swaswe gameliþ ist: tahida, gaf unledaim; uswaurts is wisiþ du aiwa.

— καθὼς γέγραπται, ἐσκόρπισεν, ἔδωκεν τοῖς πένησιν, ἡ δικαιοσύνη αὐτοῦ μένει εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα.

— sicut scriptum est : Dispersit, dedit pauperibus : justitia ejus manet in sæculum sæculi.

— (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.

— Gelijk er geschreven is: Hij heeft gestrooid, hij heeft den armen gegeven; Zijn gerechtigheid blijft in der eeuwigheid.

— selon qu'il est écrit: Il a fait des largesses, il a donné aux indigents; Sa justice subsiste à jamais.

Corinthians II 9:10

^B aþþan sa andstaldands fraiwa þana saiandan jah hlaiba du mata andstaldiþ jah managjai fraiw izwar jah wahsjan gataujai akrana uswaurhtais izwaraizos;

— ὁ δὲ ἐπιχορηγῶν σπόρον τῷ σπείροντι καὶ ἄρτον εἰς βρῶσιν χορηγήσει καὶ πληθυνεῖ τὸν σπόρον ὑμῶν καὶ αὐξήσει τὰ γενήματα τῆς δικαιοσύνης ὑμῶν:

— Qui autem administrat semen seminanti : et panem ad manducandum præstabit, et multiplicabit semen vestrum, et augebit incrementa frugum justitiæ vestræ :

— Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)

— Doch Die het zaad den zaaier verleent, Die verlene ook brood tot spijze, en vermenigvuldige uw gezaaisel, en vermeerdere de vruchten uwer gerechtigheid;

— Celui qui Fournit de la semence au semeur, Et du pain pour sa nourriture, vous fournira et vous multipliera la semence, et il augmentera les fruits de votre justice.

Corinthians II 9:11

^B in allamma gabignandans, in allai ainfalþein, sei waurkeiþ þairh uns aiwxaristian guda.

— ἐν παντὶ πλουτιζόμενοι εἰς πᾶσαν ἁπλότητα, ἥτις κατεργάζεται δι' ἡμῶν εὐχαριστίαν τῷ θεῷ –

— ut in omnibus locupletati abundetis in omnem simplicitatem, quæ operatur per nos gratiarum actionem Deo.

— Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.

— Dat gij in alles rijk wordt tot alle goeddadigheid, welke door ons werkt dankzegging tot God.

— Vous serez de la sorte enrichis à tous égards pour toute espèce de libéralités qui, par notre moyen, feront offrir à Dieu des actions de grâces.

Corinthians II 9:12

^B unte andbahti þis gudjinassaus ni þatainei ist usfulljando gaidwa þize weihane, ak jah ufarassjando þairh managa awiliuda guda,

— ὅτι ἡ διακονία τῆς λειτουργίας ταύτης οὐ μόνον ἐστὶν προσαναπληροῦσα τὰ ὑστερήματα τῶν ἁγίων, ἀλλὰ καὶ περισσεύουσα διὰ πολλῶν εὐχαριστιῶν τῷ θεῷ –

— Quoniam ministerium hujus officii non solum supplet ea quæ desunt sanctis, sed etiam abundat per multas gratiarum actiones in Domino,

— For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God;

— Want de bediening van dezen dienst vervult niet alleen het gebrek der heiligen, maar is ook overvloedig door vele dankzeggingen tot God;

— Car le secours de cette assistance non seulement pourvoit aux besoins des saints, mais il est encore une source abondante de nombreuses actions de grâces envers Dieu.

Corinthians II 9:13

^B þairh gakust þis andbahtjis mikiljandans guþ ana ufhauseinai andahaitis izwaris in aiwaggeljon Xristaus jah in ainfalþein gamainduþais du im jah du allaim,

— διὰ τῆς δοκιμῆς τῆς διακονίας ταύτης δοξάζοντες τὸν θεὸν ἐπὶ τῇ ὑποταγῇ τῆς ὁμολογίας ὑμῶν εἰς τὸ εὐαγγέλιον τοῦ χριστοῦ καὶ ἁπλότητι τῆς κοινωνίας εἰς αὐτοὺς καὶ εἰς πάντας,

— per probationem ministerii hujus, glorificantes Deum in obedientia confessionis vestræ, in Evangelium Christi, et simplicitate communicationis in illos, et in omnes,

— Whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men;

— Dewijl zij door de beproeving dezer bediening God verheerlijken over de onderwerping uwer belijdenis onder het Evangelie van Christus, en over de goeddadigheid der mededeling aan hen en aan allen;

— En considération de ce secours dont ils font l'expérience, ils glorifient Dieu de votre obéissance dans la profession de l'Évangile de Christ, et de la libéralité de vos dons envers eux et envers tous;

Corinthians II 9:14

^B jah izei bidai faur izwis gairnjandans izwara in ufarassau<s> anstais gudis ana izwis.

— καὶ αὐτῶν δεήσει ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν ἐπιποθούντων ὑμᾶς διὰ τὴν ὑπερβάλλουσαν χάριν τοῦ θεοῦ ἐφ' ὑμῖν.

— et in ipsorum obsecratione pro vobis, desiderantium vos propter eminentem gratiam Dei in vobis.

— And by their prayer for you, which long after you for the exceeding grace of God in you.

— En door hun gebed voor u, welke naar u verlangen, om de uitnemende genade Gods over u.

— ils prient pour vous, parce qu'ils vous aiment à cause de la grâce éminente que Dieu vous a faite.

Corinthians II 9:15

^B awiliud guda in þizos unusspillodons is gibos.

— χάρις τῷ θεῷ ἐπὶ τῇ ἀνεκδιηγήτῳ αὐτοῦ δωρεᾷ.

— Gratias Deo super inenarrabili dono ejus.

— Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

— Doch Gode zij dank voor Zijn onuitsprekelijke gave.

— Grâces soient rendues à Dieu pour son don ineffable!
