Corinthians I chapter 11
- Corinthians I 11:1
- A Galeikondans meinai wairþaiþ, swaswe ik Xristaus.
- — μιμηταί μου γίνεσθε, καθὼς κἀγὼ χριστοῦ.
- — Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
- Corinthians I 11:2
- A hazjuþ~þan izwis, broþrjus, þei allata mein gamunandans sijuþ, jas~swaswe anafalh izwis, anabusnins gafastaiþ.
- — ἐπαινῶ δὲ ὑμᾶς ὅτι πάντα μου μέμνησθε καὶ καθὼς παρέδωκα ὑμῖν τὰς παραδόσεις κατέχετε.
- — Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances,
as I delivered them to you.
- Corinthians I 11:3

- — θέλω δὲ ὑμᾶς εἰδέναι ὅτι παντὸς ἀνδρὸς ἡ κεφαλὴ ὁ χριστός ἐστιν, κεφαλὴ δὲ γυναικὸς
ὁ ἀνήρ, κεφαλὴ δὲ τοῦ χριστοῦ ὁ θεός.
- — But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the
woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
- Corinthians I 11:4

- — πᾶς ἀνὴρ προσευχόμενος ἢ προφητεύων κατὰ κεφαλῆς ἔχων καταισχύνει τὴν κεφαλὴν αὐτοῦ:
- — Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.
- Corinthians I 11:5
- A iþ ƕoh qinono bidjandei aiþþau praufetjandei andhulidamma haubida gaaiwiskoþ haubiþ sein; ain auk ist jah þata samo þizai biskabanon.
- — πᾶσα δὲ γυνὴ προσευχομένη ἢ προφητεύουσα ἀκατακαλύπτῳ τῇ κεφαλῇ καταισχύνει τὴν κεφαλὴν
αὐτῆς: ἓν γάρ ἐστιν καὶ τὸ αὐτὸ τῇ ἐξυρημένῃ.
- — But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her
head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.
- Corinthians I 11:6

- — εἰ γὰρ οὐ κατακαλύπτεται γυνή, καὶ κειράσθω: εἰ δὲ αἰσχρὸν γυναικὶ τὸ κείρασθαι ἢ
ξυρᾶσθαι, κατακαλυπτέσθω.
- — For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a
woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.
- Corinthians I 11:21

- — ἕκαστος γὰρ τὸ ἴδιον δεῖπνον προλαμβάνει ἐν τῷ φαγεῖν, καὶ ὃς μὲν πεινᾷ, ὃς δὲ μεθύει.
- — For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and
another is drunken.
- Corinthians I 11:22

- — μὴ γὰρ οἰκίας οὐκ ἔχετε εἰς τὸ ἐσθίειν καὶ πίνειν; ἢ τῆς ἐκκλησίας τοῦ θεοῦ καταφρονεῖτε,
καὶ καταισχύνετε τοὺς μὴ ἔχοντας; τί εἴπω ὑμῖν; ἐπαινέσω ὑμᾶς; ἐν τούτῳ οὐκ ἐπαινῶ.
- — What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God,
and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this?
I praise you not.
- Corinthians I 11:23

- — ἐγὼ γὰρ παρέλαβον ἀπὸ τοῦ κυρίου, ὃ καὶ παρέδωκα ὑμῖν, ὅτι ὁ κύριος ἰησοῦς ἐν τῇ νυκτὶ
ᾗ παρεδίδετο ἔλαβεν ἄρτον
- — For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord
Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
- Corinthians I 11:24
- A jah awiliudonds gabrak jah qaþ: nimiþ, matjiþ, þata ist leik mein, þata in izwara gabrukano; þata waurkjaiþ du meinai gamundai.
- — καὶ εὐχαριστήσας ἔκλασεν καὶ εἶπεν, τοῦτό μού ἐστιν τὸ σῶμα τὸ ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν: τοῦτο ποιεῖτε
εἰς τὴν ἐμὴν ἀνάμνησιν.
- — And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which
is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
- Corinthians I 11:25
- A swah samaleiko jah stikl afar nahtamat qiþands: sa stikls so niujo triggwa ist in meinamma bloþa; þata waurkjaiþ, swa ufta swe drigkaiþ, du meinai gamundai.
- — ὡσαύτως καὶ τὸ ποτήριον μετὰ τὸ δειπνῆσαι, λέγων, τοῦτο τὸ ποτήριον ἡ καινὴ διαθήκη
ἐστὶν ἐν τῷ ἐμῷ αἵματι: τοῦτο ποιεῖτε, ὁσάκις ἐὰν πίνητε, εἰς τὴν ἐμὴν ἀνάμνησιν.
- — After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is
the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of
me.
- Corinthians I 11:26
- A swa ufta auk swe matjaiþ þana hlaif jaþ~þana stikl drigkaiþ, dauþau fraujins gakannjaiþ, unte qimai.
- — ὁσάκις γὰρ ἐὰν ἐσθίητε τὸν ἄρτον τοῦτον καὶ τὸ ποτήριον πίνητε, τὸν θάνατον τοῦ κυρίου
καταγγέλλετε, ἄχρις οὗ ἔλθῃ.
- — For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death
till he come.
- Corinthians I 11:27
- A eiþan ƕazuh saei matjiþ þana hlaif aiþþau drigkai þana stikl fraujins unwairþaba fraujins, skula wairþiþ leikis jah bloþis fraujins.
- — ὥστε ὃς ἂν ἐσθίῃ τὸν ἄρτον ἢ πίνῃ τὸ ποτήριον τοῦ κυρίου ἀναξίως, ἔνοχος ἔσται τοῦ
σώματος καὶ τοῦ αἵματος τοῦ κυρίου.
- — Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily,
shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
- Corinthians I 11:28
- A aþþan gakiusai sik silban manna jah swa þis hlaibis matjai jaþ~þis stiklis drigkai.
- — δοκιμαζέτω δὲ ἄνθρωπος ἑαυτόν, καὶ οὕτως ἐκ τοῦ ἄρτου ἐσθιέτω καὶ ἐκ τοῦ ποτηρίου
πινέτω:
- — But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that
cup.
- Corinthians I 11:29
- A saei auk matjiþ jah drigkiþ unwairþaba, staua sis silbin matjiþ <jah drigkiþ>, ni domjands leik fraujins.
- — ὁ γὰρ ἐσθίων καὶ πίνων κρίμα ἑαυτῷ ἐσθίει καὶ πίνει μὴ διακρίνων τὸ σῶμα.
- — For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself,
not discerning the Lord's body.
- Corinthians I 11:30
- A duþþe in izwis managai siukai jah unhailai, jag~gaslepand ganohai.
- — διὰ τοῦτο ἐν ὑμῖν πολλοὶ ἀσθενεῖς καὶ ἄρρωστοι καὶ κοιμῶνται ἱκανοί.
- — For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
- Corinthians I 11:31
- A iþ jabai silbans uns stauidedeima, ni þau ....
- — εἰ δὲ ἑαυτοὺς διεκρίνομεν, οὐκ ἂν ἐκρινόμεθα:
- — For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
