Romans chapter 11
- Romans 11:1
- A Qiþa nu: ibai afskauf guþ arbja seinamma? nis~sijai! jah auk ik Israeleites im ....
- — λέγω οὖν, μὴ ἀπώσατο ὁ θεὸς τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ; μὴ γένοιτο: καὶ γὰρ ἐγὼ ἰσραηλίτης εἰμί,
ἐκ σπέρματος ἀβραάμ, φυλῆς βενιαμίν.
- — I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite,
of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.
- Romans 11:11
- A .... ei gadruseina? nis~sijai! ak þizai ize missadedai ganists þiudom du in aljana briggan ins.
- — λέγω οὖν, μὴ ἔπταισαν ἵνα πέσωσιν; μὴ γένοιτο: ἀλλὰ τῷ αὐτῶν παραπτώματι ἡ σωτηρία
τοῖς ἔθνεσιν, εἰς τὸ παραζηλῶσαι αὐτούς.
- — I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through
their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.
- Romans 11:12
- A iþ jabai missadeds ize gabei fairƕau jah wanains ize gabei þiudom, ƕan mais fullo ize?
- — εἰ δὲ τὸ παράπτωμα αὐτῶν πλοῦτος κόσμου καὶ τὸ ἥττημα αὐτῶν πλοῦτος ἐθνῶν, πόσῳ μᾶλλον
τὸ πλήρωμα αὐτῶν.
- — Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the
riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?
- Romans 11:13
- A izwis auk qiþa þiudom: swa lagga swe ik im þiudo apaustaulus, andbahti mein mikilja,
- — ὑμῖν δὲ λέγω τοῖς ἔθνεσιν. ἐφ' ὅσον μὲν οὖν εἰμι ἐγὼ ἐθνῶν ἀπόστολος, τὴν διακονίαν
μου δοξάζω,
- — For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify
mine office:
- Romans 11:14
- A ei ƕaiwa in aljana briggau leik mein jah ganasjau sumans us im.
- — εἴ πως παραζηλώσω μου τὴν σάρκα καὶ σώσω τινὰς ἐξ αὐτῶν.
- — If by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save
some of them.
- Romans 11:15
- A jabai auk uswaurpa ize gabei fairƕaus, ƕa so andanumts, nibai libains us dauþaim?
- — εἰ γὰρ ἡ ἀποβολὴ αὐτῶν καταλλαγὴ κόσμου, τίς ἡ πρόσλημψις εἰ μὴ ζωὴ ἐκ νεκρῶν;
- — For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving
of them be, but life from the dead?
- Romans 11:16
- A þandei ufarskafts weiha, jah daigs, jah jabai waurts weiha, jah astos.
- — εἰ δὲ ἡ ἀπαρχὴ ἁγία, καὶ τὸ φύραμα: καὶ εἰ ἡ ῥίζα ἁγία, καὶ οἱ κλάδοι.
- — For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so
are the branches.
- Romans 11:17
- A iþ jabai sumai þize aste usbruknodedun, iþ þu wilþeis alewabagms wisands intrusgiþs warst in ins jah gamains þizai waurhtai jah smairþra alewabagmis warst,
- — εἰ δέ τινες τῶν κλάδων ἐξεκλάσθησαν, σὺ δὲ ἀγριέλαιος ὢν ἐνεκεντρίσθης ἐν αὐτοῖς καὶ
συγκοινωνὸς τῆς ῥίζης τῆς πιότητος τῆς ἐλαίας ἐγένου,
- — And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert
graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive
tree;
- Romans 11:18
- A ni ƕop ana þans a[n]stans; iþ jabai ƕopis, ni þu þo waurt[s] bairis, ak so waurts þuk.
- — μὴ κατακαυχῶ τῶν κλάδων: εἰ δὲ κατακαυχᾶσαι, οὐ σὺ τὴν ῥίζαν βαστάζεις ἀλλὰ ἡ ῥίζα
σέ.
- — Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but
the root thee.
- Romans 11:19
- A qiþais nu: usbruknodedun astos, ei ik intrusgjaidau.
- — ἐρεῖς οὖν, ἐξεκλάσθησαν κλάδοι ἵνα ἐγὼ ἐγκεντρισθῶ.
- — Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in.
- Romans 11:20
- A waila! ungalaubeinai usbruknodedun, iþ þu galaubeinai gastost; ni hugei hauhaba, ak ogs.
- — καλῶς: τῇ ἀπιστίᾳ ἐξεκλάσθησαν, σὺ δὲ τῇ πίστει ἕστηκας. μὴ ὑψηλὰ φρόνει, ἀλλὰ φοβοῦ:
- — Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not
highminded, but fear:
- Romans 11:21
- A þandei guþ þans us gabaurþai astans ni freidida, ibai aufto ni þuk freidjai.
- — εἰ γὰρ ὁ θεὸς τῶν κατὰ φύσιν κλάδων οὐκ ἐφείσατο, [μή πως] οὐδὲ σοῦ φείσεται.
- — For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
- Romans 11:22
- A sai nu selein jah ƕassein [garaihta] gudis; aþþan ana þaim þaiei gadrusun, ƕassein, iþ ana þus selein, jabai þairhwisis in selein; aiþþau jah þu usmaitaza,
- — ἴδε οὖν χρηστότητα καὶ ἀποτομίαν θεοῦ: ἐπὶ μὲν τοὺς πεσόντας ἀποτομία, ἐπὶ δὲ σὲ χρηστότης
θεοῦ, ἐὰν ἐπιμένῃς τῇ χρηστότητι, ἐπεὶ καὶ σὺ ἐκκοπήσῃ.
- — Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but
toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt
be cut off.
- Romans 11:23
- A jah jainai, niba gatulgjand sik in ungalaubeinai, intrusgjanda; mahteigs auk ist guþ aftra intrusgjan ins.
- — κἀκεῖνοι δέ, ἐὰν μὴ ἐπιμένωσιν τῇ ἀπιστίᾳ, ἐγκεντρισθήσονται: δυνατὸς γάρ ἐστιν ὁ
θεὸς πάλιν ἐγκεντρίσαι αὐτούς.
- — And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is
able to graff them in again.
- Romans 11:24
- A jabai auk þu us wistai usmaitans þis wilþei<n>s alewabagmis jah aljakuns wisands, intrusgans warst in godana alewabagm, ƕan filu mais þai bi wistai intrusgjanda in swesana alewabagm?
- — εἰ γὰρ σὺ ἐκ τῆς κατὰ φύσιν ἐξεκόπης ἀγριελαίου καὶ παρὰ φύσιν ἐνεκεντρίσθης εἰς καλλιέλαιον,
πόσῳ μᾶλλον οὗτοι οἱ κατὰ φύσιν ἐγκεντρισθήσονται τῇ ἰδίᾳ ἐλαίᾳ.
- — For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed
contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the
natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree?
- Romans 11:25
- A ni auk wiljau izwis unweisans, broþrjus, þizos runos, ei ni sijaiþ in izwis silbam frodai, unte daubei <bi> sumata Israela warþ, und þatei fullo þiudo inngaleiþai.
- — οὐ γὰρ θέλω ὑμᾶς ἀγνοεῖν, ἀδελφοί, τὸ μυστήριον τοῦτο, ἵνα μὴ ἦτε [παρ'] ἑαυτοῖς φρόνιμοι,
ὅτι πώρωσις ἀπὸ μέρους τῷ ἰσραὴλ γέγονεν ἄχρις οὗ τὸ πλήρωμα τῶν ἐθνῶν εἰσέλθῃ,
- — For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should
be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until
the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
- Romans 11:26
- A jah swa allai Israel ganisand, swaswe gameliþ ist: urrinniþ us Sion sa lausjands du afwandjan afgudein af Iakoba.
- — καὶ οὕτως πᾶς ἰσραὴλ σωθήσεται: καθὼς γέγραπται, ἥξει ἐκ σιὼν ὁ ῥυόμενος, ἀποστρέψει
ἀσεβείας ἀπὸ ἰακώβ:
- — And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the
Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
- Romans 11:27
- A jah so im fram mis triggwa, þan afnima frawaurhtins ize.
- — καὶ αὕτη αὐτοῖς ἡ παρ' ἐμοῦ διαθήκη, ὅταν ἀφέλωμαι τὰς ἁμαρτίας αὐτῶν.
- — For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.
- Romans 11:28
- A aþþan bi aiwaggeljon fijandans in izwara, iþ bi gawaleinai liubai ana attans.
- — κατὰ μὲν τὸ εὐαγγέλιον ἐχθροὶ δι' ὑμᾶς, κατὰ δὲ τὴν ἐκλογὴν ἀγαπητοὶ διὰ τοὺς πατέρας:
- — As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election,
they are beloved for the father's sakes.
- Romans 11:29
- A inu idreiga sind auk gibos jah laþons gudis.
- — ἀμεταμέλητα γὰρ τὰ χαρίσματα καὶ ἡ κλῆσις τοῦ θεοῦ.
- — For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
- Romans 11:30
- A swaswe raihtis jus suman ni galaubideduþ guda, iþ nu gaarmaidai waurþuþ þizai ize ungalaubeinai,
- — ὥσπερ γὰρ ὑμεῖς ποτε ἠπειθήσατε τῷ θεῷ, νῦν δὲ ἠλεήθητε τῇ τούτων ἀπειθείᾳ,
- — For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through
their unbelief:
- Romans 11:31
- A swa jah þai nu ni galaubidedun izwarai armaion, ei jah eis gaarmaindau.
- — οὕτως καὶ οὗτοι νῦν ἠπείθησαν τῷ ὑμετέρῳ ἐλέει ἵνα καὶ αὐτοὶ [νῦν] ἐλεηθῶσιν:
- — Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain
mercy.
- Romans 11:32
- A galauk auk guþ allans in ungalaubeinai, ei allans gaarmai.
- — συνέκλεισεν γὰρ ὁ θεὸς τοὺς πάντας εἰς ἀπείθειαν ἵνα τοὺς πάντας ἐλεήσῃ.
- — For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.
- Romans 11:33
- A o diupiþa gabeins handugeins ....
- Car .... jah witubnjis gudis! ƕaiwa unusspilloda sind stauos is jah unbilaistidai wigos is!
- — ὦ βάθος πλούτου καὶ σοφίας καὶ γνώσεως θεοῦ: ὡς ἀνεξεραύνητα τὰ κρίματα αὐτοῦ καὶ
ἀνεξιχνίαστοι αἱ ὁδοὶ αὐτοῦ.
- — O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable
are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
- Romans 11:34
- Car ƕas auk ufkunþa fraþi fraujins aiþþau ƕas imma ragineis was?
- — τίς γὰρ ἔγνω νοῦν κυρίου; ἢ τίς σύμβουλος αὐτοῦ ἐγένετο;
- — For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?
- Romans 11:35
- Car aiþþau ƕas imma fruma gaf, jah fragildaidau imma?
- — ἢ τίς προέδωκεν αὐτῷ, καὶ ἀνταποδοθήσεται αὐτῷ;
- — Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?
- Romans 11:36
- Car unte us imma jah þairh ina jah in imma alla; immuh wulþus du aiwam, amen.
- — ὅτι ἐξ αὐτοῦ καὶ δι' αὐτοῦ καὶ εἰς αὐτὸν τὰ πάντα: αὐτῷ ἡ δόξα εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας: ἀμήν.
- — For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever.
