Matthew chapter 8

Matthew 8:1

^CA Dalaþ þan atgaggandin imma af fairgunja, laistidedun afar imma iumjons managos.

— καταβάντος δὲ αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ τοῦ ὄρους ἠκολούθησαν αὐτῷ ὄχλοι πολλοί.

— Cum autem descendisset de monte, secutæ sunt eum turbæ multæ :

— When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.

— Toen Hij nu van den berg afgeklommen was, zijn Hem vele scharen gevolgd.

— Lorsque Jésus fut descendu de la montagne, une grande foule le suivit.

Matthew 8:2

^CA jah sai, manna þrutsfill habands durinnands inwait ina qiþands: frauja, jabai wileis, magt mik gahrainjan.

— καὶ ἰδοὺ λεπρὸς προσελθὼν προσεκύνει αὐτῷ λέγων, κύριε, ἐὰν θέλῃς δύνασαί με καθαρίσαι.

— et ecce leprosus veniens, adorabat eum, dicens : Domine, si vis, potes me mundare.

— And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

— En ziet, een melaatse kwam, en aanbad Hem, zeggende: Heere! indien Gij wilt, Gij kunt mij reinigen.

— Et voici, un lépreux s'étant approché se prosterna devant lui, et dit: Seigneur, si tu le veux, tu peux me rendre pur.

Matthew 8:3

^CA jah ufrakjands handu attaitok imma qiþands: wiljau, wairþ hrains! jah suns hrain warþ þata þrutsfill is.

— καὶ ἐκτείνας τὴν χεῖρα ἥψατο αὐτοῦ λέγων, θέλω, καθαρίσθητι: καὶ εὐθέως ἐκαθαρίσθη αὐτοῦ ἡ λέπρα.

— Et extendens Jesus manum, tetigit eum, dicens : Volo. Mundare. Et confestim mundata est lepra ejus.

— And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

— En Jezus, de hand uitstrekkende, heeft hem aangeraakt, zeggende: Ik wil, word gereinigd! En terstond werd hij van zijn melaatsheid gereinigd.

— Jésus étendit la main, le toucha, et dit: Je le veux, sois pur. Aussitôt il fut purifié de sa lèpre.

Matthew 8:4

^CA jah qaþ imma Iesus: saiƕ ei mann ni qiþais, ak gagg, þuk silban ataugei gudjin jah atbair giba þoei anabauþ Moses du weitwodiþai im.

— καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ ὁ ἰησοῦς, ὅρα μηδενὶ εἴπῃς, ἀλλὰ ὕπαγε σεαυτὸν δεῖξον τῷ ἱερεῖ, καὶ προσένεγκον τὸ δῶρον ὃ προσέταξεν μωϋσῆς, εἰς μαρτύριον αὐτοῖς.

— Et ait illi Jesus : Vide, nemini dixeris : sed vade, ostende te sacerdoti, et offer munus, quod præcepit Moyses, in testimonium illis.

— And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

— En Jezus zeide tot hem: Zie, dat gij dit niemand zegt; maar ga heen, toon uzelven den priester, en offer de gave, die Mozes geboden heeft, hun tot een getuigenis.

— Puis Jésus lui dit: Garde-toi d'en parler à personne; mais va te montrer au sacrificateur, et présente l'offrande que Moïse a prescrite, afin que cela leur serve de témoignage.

Matthew 8:5

^CA afaruh þan þata innatgaggandin imma in Kafarnaum, duatiddja imma hundafaþs bidjands ina

— εἰσελθόντος δὲ αὐτοῦ εἰς καφαρναοὺμ προσῆλθεν αὐτῷ ἑκατόνταρχος παρακαλῶν αὐτὸν

— Cum autem introisset Capharnaum, accessit ad eum centurio, rogans eum,

— And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,

— Als nu Jezus te Kapernaum ingegaan was, kwam tot Hem een hoofdman over honderd, biddende Hem,

— Comme Jésus entrait dans Capernaüm, un centenier l'aborda,

Matthew 8:6

^CA jah qiþands: frauja, þiumagus meins ligiþ in garda usliþa, harduba balwiþs.

— καὶ λέγων, κύριε, ὁ παῖς μου βέβληται ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ παραλυτικός, δεινῶς βασανιζόμενος.

— et dicens : Domine, puer meus jacet in domo paralyticus, et male torquetur.

— And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.

— En zeggende: Heere! mijn knecht ligt te huis geraakt, en lijdt zware pijnen.

— le priant et disant: Seigneur, mon serviteur est couché à la maison, atteint de paralysie et souffrant beaucoup.

Matthew 8:7

^CA jah qaþ du imma Iesus: ik qimands gahailja ina.

— καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ, ἐγὼ ἐλθὼν θεραπεύσω αὐτόν.

— Et ait illi Jesus : Ego veniam, et curabo eum.

— And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.

— En Jezus zeide tot hem: Ik zal komen en hem genezen.

— Jésus lui dit: J'irai, et je le guérirai.

Matthew 8:8

^CA jah andhafjands sa hundafaþs qaþ: frauja, ni im wairþs ei uf hrot mein inngaggais, ak þatainei qiþ waurda jah gahailniþ sa þiumagus meins.

— καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ ἑκατόνταρχος ἔφη, κύριε, οὐκ εἰμὶ ἱκανὸς ἵνα μου ὑπὸ τὴν στέγην εἰσέλθῃς: ἀλλὰ μόνον εἰπὲ λόγῳ, καὶ ἰαθήσεται ὁ παῖς μου.

— Et respondens centurio, ait : Domine, non sum dignus ut intres sub tectum meum : sed tantum dic verbo, et sanabitur puer meus.

— The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.

— En de hoofdman over honderd, antwoordende, zeide: Heere! ik ben niet waardig, dat Gij onder mijn dak zoudt inkomen; maar spreek alleenlijk een woord, en mijn knecht zal genezen worden.

— Le centenier répondit: Seigneur, je ne suis pas digne que tu entres sous mon toit; mais dis seulement un mot, et mon serviteur sera guéri.

Matthew 8:9

^CA jah auk ik manna im habands uf waldufnja meinamma gadrauhtins jah qiþa du þamma: gagg, jah gaggiþ; jah anþaramma: qim, jah qimiþ; jah du skalka meinamma: tawei þata, jah taujiþ.

— καὶ γὰρ ἐγὼ ἄνθρωπός εἰμι ὑπὸ ἐξουσίαν, ἔχων ὑπ' ἐμαυτὸν στρατιώτας, καὶ λέγω τούτῳ, πορεύθητι, καὶ πορεύεται, καὶ ἄλλῳ, ἔρχου, καὶ ἔρχεται, καὶ τῷ δούλῳ μου, ποίησον τοῦτο, καὶ ποιεῖ.

— Nam et ego homo sum sub potestate constitutus, habens sub me milites, et dico huic : Vade, et vadit : et alii : Veni, et venit : et servo meo : Fac hoc, et facit.

— For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

— Want ik ben ook een mens onder de macht van anderen, hebbende onder mij krijgsknechten; en ik zeg tot dezen: Ga! en hij gaat; en tot den anderen: Kom! en hij komt; en tot mijn dienstknecht: Doe dat! en hij doet het.

— Car, moi qui suis soumis à des supérieurs, j'ai des soldats sous mes ordres; et je dis à l'un: Va! et il va; à l'autre: Viens! et il vient; et à mon serviteur: Fais cela! et il le fait.

Matthew 8:10

^CA gahausjands þan Iesus sildaleikida jah qaþ du þaim afarlaistjandam: amen, qiþa izwis, ni in Israela swalauda galaubein bigat.

— ἀκούσας δὲ ὁ ἰησοῦς ἐθαύμασεν καὶ εἶπεν τοῖς ἀκολουθοῦσιν, ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, παρ' οὐδενὶ τοσαύτην πίστιν ἐν τῷ ἰσραὴλ εὗρον.

— Audiens autem Jesus miratus est, et sequentibus se dixit : Amen dico vobis, non inveni tantam fidem in Israël.

— When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

— Jezus nu, dit horende, heeft Zich verwonderd, en zeide tot dengenen, die Hem volgden: Voorwaar zeg Ik u, Ik heb zelfs in Israel zo groot een geloof niet gevonden.

— Après l'avoir entendu, Jésus fut dans l'étonnement, et il dit à ceux qui le suivaient: Je vous le dis en vérité, même en Israël je n'ai pas trouvé une aussi grande foi.

Matthew 8:11

^CA aþþan qiþa izwis þatei managai fram urrunsa jah saggqa qimand, jah anakumbjand miþ Abrahama jah Isaka jah Iakoba in þiudangardjai himine:

— λέγω δὲ ὑμῖν ὅτι πολλοὶ ἀπὸ ἀνατολῶν καὶ δυσμῶν ἥξουσιν καὶ ἀνακλιθήσονται μετὰ ἀβραὰμ καὶ ἰσαὰκ καὶ ἰακὼβ ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τῶν οὐρανῶν:

— Dico autem vobis, quod multi ab oriente et occidente venient, et recumbent cum Abraham, et Isaac, et Jacob in regno cælorum :

— And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.

— Doch Ik zeg u, dat velen zullen komen van oosten en westen en zullen met Abraham, en Izak, en Jakob, aanzitten in het Koninkrijk der hemelen;

— Or, je vous déclare que plusieurs viendront de l'orient et de l'occident, et seront à table avec Abraham, Isaac et Jacob, dans le royaume des cieux.

Matthew 8:12

^CA iþ þai sunjus þiudangardjos uswairpanda in riqis þata hindumisto; jainar wairþiþ grets jah krusts tunþiwe.

— οἱ δὲ υἱοὶ τῆς βασιλείας ἐκβληθήσονται εἰς τὸ σκότος τὸ ἐξώτερον: ἐκεῖ ἔσται ὁ κλαυθμὸς καὶ ὁ βρυγμὸς τῶν ὀδόντων.

— filii autem regni ejicientur in tenebras exteriores : ibi erit fletus et stridor dentium.

— But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

— En de kinderen des Koninkrijks zullen uitgeworpen worden in de buitenste duisternis; aldaar zal wening zijn, en knersing der tanden.

— Mais les fils du royaume seront jetés dans les ténèbres du dehors, où il y aura des pleurs et des grincements de dents.

Matthew 8:13

^CA jah qaþ Iesus þamma hundafada: gagg, jah swaswe galaubides wairþai þus. jah gahailnoda sa þiumagus is in jainai ƕeilai.

— καὶ εἶπεν ὁ ἰησοῦς τῷ ἑκατοντάρχῃ, ὕπαγε, ὡς ἐπίστευσας γενηθήτω σοι. καὶ ἰάθη ὁ παῖς [αὐτοῦ] ἐν τῇ ὥρᾳ ἐκείνῃ.

— Et dixit Jesus centurioni : Vade, et sicut credidisti, fiat tibi. Et sanatus est puer in illa hora.

— And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

— En Jezus zeide tot den hoofdman over honderd: Ga heen, en u geschiede, gelijk gij geloofd hebt. En zijn knecht is gezond geworden te diezelver ure.

— Puis Jésus dit au centenier: Va, qu'il te soit fait selon ta foi. Et à l'heure même le serviteur fut guéri.

Matthew 8:14

^CA jah qimands Iesus in garda Paitraus, jah gasaƕ swaihron is ligandein in heitom.

— καὶ ἐλθὼν ὁ ἰησοῦς εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν πέτρου εἶδεν τὴν πενθερὰν αὐτοῦ βεβλημένην καὶ πυρέσσουσαν:

— Et cum venisset Jesus in domum Petri, vidit socrum ejus jacentem, et febricitantem :

— And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever.

— En Jezus gekomen zijnde in het huis van Petrus, zag zijn vrouws moeder te bed liggen, hebbende de koorts.

— Jésus se rendit ensuite à la maison de Pierre, dont il vit la belle-mère couchée et ayant la fièvre.

Matthew 8:15

^CA jah attaitok handau izos jah aflailot ija so heito; jah urrais jah andbahtida imma.

— καὶ ἥψατο τῆς χειρὸς αὐτῆς, καὶ ἀφῆκεν αὐτὴν ὁ πυρετός: καὶ ἠγέρθη καὶ διηκόνει αὐτῷ.

— et tetigit manum ejus, et dimisit eam febris, et surrexit, et ministrabat eis.

— And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them.

— En Hij raakte haar hand aan, en de koorts verliet haar; en zij stond op, en diende henlieden.

— Il toucha sa main, et la fièvre la quitta; puis elle se leva, et le servit.

Matthew 8:16

^CA at andanahtja þan waurþanamma, atberun du imma daimonarjans managans, jah uswarp þans ahmans waurda jah allans þans ubil habandans gahailida,

— ὀψίας δὲ γενομένης προσήνεγκαν αὐτῷ δαιμονιζομένους πολλούς: καὶ ἐξέβαλεν τὰ πνεύματα λόγῳ, καὶ πάντας τοὺς κακῶς ἔχοντας ἐθεράπευσεν:

— Vespere autem facto, obtulerunt ei multos dæmonia habentes : et ejiciebat spiritus verbo, et omnes male habentes curavit :

— When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:

— En als het laat geworden was, hebben zij velen, van den duivel bezeten, tot Hem gebracht, en Hij wierp de boze geesten uit met den woorde, en Hij genas allen, die kwalijk gesteld waren;

— Le soir, on amena auprès de Jésus plusieurs démoniaques. Il chassa les esprits par sa parole, et il guérit tous les malades,

Matthew 8:17

^CA ei usfullnodedi þata gamelido þairh Esaïan praufetu qiþandan: sa unmahtins unsaros usnam jah sauhtins usbar.

— ὅπως πληρωθῇ τὸ ῥηθὲν διὰ ἠσαΐου τοῦ προφήτου λέγοντος, αὐτὸς τὰς ἀσθενείας ἡμῶν ἔλαβεν καὶ τὰς νόσους ἐβάστασεν.

— ut adimpleretur quod dictum est per Isaiam prophetam, dicentem : Ipse infirmitates nostras accepit : et ægrotationes nostras portavit.

— That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

— Opdat vervuld zou worden, dat gesproken was door Jesaja, den profeet, zeggende: Hij heeft onze krankheden op Zich genomen, en onze ziekten gedragen.

— afin que s'accomplît ce qui avait été annoncé par Ésaïe, le prophète: Il a pris nos infirmités, et il s'est chargé de nos maladies.

Matthew 8:18

^CA gasaiƕands þan Iesus managans hiuhmans bi sik, haihait galeiþan siponjans hindar marein.

— ἰδὼν δὲ ὁ ἰησοῦς ὄχλον περὶ αὐτὸν ἐκέλευσεν ἀπελθεῖν εἰς τὸ πέραν.

— Videns autem Jesus turbas multas circum se, jussit ire trans fretum.

— Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other side.

— En Jezus, vele scharen ziende rondom Zich, beval aan de andere zijde over te varen.

— Jésus, voyant une grande foule autour de lui, donna l'ordre de passer à l'autre bord.

Matthew 8:19

^CA jah duatgaggands ains bokareis qaþ du imma: laisari, laistja þuk, þisƕaduh þadei gaggis.

— καὶ προσελθὼν εἷς γραμματεὺς εἶπεν αὐτῷ, διδάσκαλε, ἀκολουθήσω σοι ὅπου ἐὰν ἀπέρχῃ.

— Et accedens unus scriba, ait illi : Magister, sequar te, quocumque ieris.

— And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.

— En er kwam een zeker Schriftgeleerde tot Hem, en zeide tot Hem: Meester! ik zal U volgen, waar Gij ook henengaat.

— Un scribe s'approcha, et lui dit: Maître, je te suivrai partout où tu iras.

Matthew 8:20

^CA jah qaþ du imma Iesus: fauhons grobos aigun, jah fuglos himinis sitlans, iþ sunus mans ni habaiþ ƕar haubiþ sein anahnaiwjai.

— καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ ὁ ἰησοῦς, αἱ ἀλώπεκες φωλεοὺς ἔχουσιν καὶ τὰ πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ κατασκηνώσεις, ὁ δὲ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου οὐκ ἔχει ποῦ τὴν κεφαλὴν κλίνῃ.

— Et dicit ei Jesus : Vulpes foveas habent, et volucres cæli nidos ; Filius autem hominis non habet ubi caput reclinet.

— And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

— En Jezus zeide tot hem: De vossen hebben holen, en de vogelen des hemels nesten; maar de Zoon des mensen heeft niet, waar Hij het hoofd nederlegge.

— Jésus lui répondit: Les renards ont des tanières, et les oiseaux du ciel ont des nids; mais le Fils de l'homme n'a pas où reposer sa tête.

Matthew 8:21

^CA anþaruh þan siponje is qaþ du imma: frauja, uslaubei mis frumist galeiþan jah gafilhan attan meinana.

— ἕτερος δὲ τῶν μαθητῶν [αὐτοῦ] εἶπεν αὐτῷ, κύριε, ἐπίτρεψόν μοι πρῶτον ἀπελθεῖν καὶ θάψαι τὸν πατέρα μου.

— Alius autem de discipulis ejus ait illi : Domine, permitte me primum ire, et sepelire patrem meum.

— And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.

— En een ander uit Zijn discipelen zeide tot Hem: Heere! laat mij toe, dat ik eerst heenga, en mijn vader begrave.

— Un autre, d'entre les disciples, lui dit: Seigneur, permets-moi d'aller d'abord ensevelir mon père.

Matthew 8:22

^CA iþ Iesus qaþ du imma: laistei afar mis jah let þans dauþans <ga>filhan seinans dauþans.

— ὁ δὲ ἰησοῦς λέγει αὐτῷ, ἀκολούθει μοι, καὶ ἄφες τοὺς νεκροὺς θάψαι τοὺς ἑαυτῶν νεκρούς.

— Jesus autem ait illi : Sequere me, et dimitte mortuos sepelire mortuos suos.

— But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.

— Doch Jezus zeide tot hem: Volg Mij, en laat de doden hun doden begraven.

— Mais Jésus lui répondit: Suis-moi, et laisse les morts ensevelir leurs morts.

Matthew 8:23

^CA jah innatgaggandin imma in skip, afariddjedun imma siponjos is.

— καὶ ἐμβάντι αὐτῷ εἰς τὸ πλοῖον ἠκολούθησαν αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ.

— Et ascendente eo in naviculam, secuti sunt eum discipuli ejus :

— And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.

— En als Hij in het schip gegaan was, zijn Hem Zijn discipelen gevolgd.

— Il monta dans la barque, et ses disciples le suivirent.

Matthew 8:24

^CA jah sai, wegs mikils warþ in marein, swaswe þata skip gahuliþ wairþan fram wegim; iþ is saislep.

— καὶ ἰδοὺ σεισμὸς μέγας ἐγένετο ἐν τῇ θαλάσσῃ, ὥστε τὸ πλοῖον καλύπτεσθαι ὑπὸ τῶν κυμάτων: αὐτὸς δὲ ἐκάθευδεν.

— et ecce motus magnus factus est in mari, ita ut navicula operiretur fluctibus, ipse vero dormiebat.

— And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.

— En ziet, er ontstond een grote onstuimigheid in de zee, alzo dat het schip van de golven bedekt werd; doch Hij sliep.

— Et voici, il s'éleva sur la mer une si grande tempête que la barque était couverte par les flots. Et lui, il dormait.

Matthew 8:25

^CA jah duatgaggandans siponjos is urraisidedun ina qiþandans: frauja, nasei unsis, fraqistnam.

— καὶ προσελθόντες ἤγειραν αὐτὸν λέγοντες, κύριε, σῶσον, ἀπολλύμεθα.

— Et accesserunt ad eum discipuli ejus, et suscitaverunt eum, dicentes : Domine, salva nos, perimus.

— And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.

— En Zijn discipelen, bij Hem komende, hebben Hem opgewekt, zeggende: Heere, behoed ons, wij vergaan!

— Les disciples s'étant approchés le réveillèrent, et dirent: Seigneur, sauve-nous, nous périssons!

Matthew 8:26

^CA jah qaþ du im Iesus: ƕa faurhteiþ, leitil galaubjandans! þanuh urreisands gasok windam jah marein, jah warþ wis mikil.

— καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς, τί δειλοί ἐστε, ὀλιγόπιστοι; τότε ἐγερθεὶς ἐπετίμησεν τοῖς ἀνέμοις καὶ τῇ θαλάσσῃ, καὶ ἐγένετο γαλήνη μεγάλη.

— Et dicit eis Jesus : Quid timidi estis, modicæ fidei ? Tunc surgens imperavit ventis, et mari, et facta est tranquillitas magna.

— And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

— En Hij zeide tot hen: Wat zijt gij vreesachtig, gij kleingelovigen? Toen stond Hij op, en bestrafte de winden en de zee; en er werd grote stilte.

— Il leur dit: Pourquoi avez-vous peur, gens de peu de foi? Alors il se leva, menaça les vents et la mer, et il y eut un grand calme.

Matthew 8:27

^CA iþ þai mans sildaleikidedun qiþandans: ƕileiks ist sa, ei jah windos jah marei ufhausjand imma?

— οἱ δὲ ἄνθρωποι ἐθαύμασαν λέγοντες, ποταπός ἐστιν οὗτος ὅτι καὶ οἱ ἄνεμοι καὶ ἡ θάλασσα αὐτῷ ὑπακούουσιν;

— Porro homines mirati sunt, dicentes : Qualis est hic, quia venti et mare obediunt ei ?

— But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!

— En de mensen verwonderden zich, zeggende: Hoedanig een is Deze, dat ook de winden en de zee Hem gehoorzaam zijn!

— Ces hommes furent saisis d'étonnement: Quel est celui-ci, disaient-ils, à qui obéissent même les vents et la mer?

Matthew 8:28

^CA jah qimandin imma hindar marein in gauja Gairgaisaine, gamotidedun imma twai daimonarjos us hlaiwasnom rinnandans, sleidjai filu, swaswe ni mahta manna usleiþan þairh þana wig jainana.

— καὶ ἐλθόντος αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸ πέραν εἰς τὴν χώραν τῶν γαδαρηνῶν ὑπήντησαν αὐτῷ δύο δαιμονιζόμενοι ἐκ τῶν μνημείων ἐξερχόμενοι, χαλεποὶ λίαν, ὥστε μὴ ἰσχύειν τινὰ παρελθεῖν διὰ τῆς ὁδοῦ ἐκείνης.

— Et cum venisset trans fretum in regionem Gerasenorum, occurrerunt ei duo habentes dæmonia, de monumentis exeuntes, sævi nimis, ita ut nemo posset transire per viam illam.

— And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.

— En als Hij over aan de andere zijde was gekomen in het land der Gergesenen, zijn Hem twee, van den duivel bezeten, ontmoet, komende uit de graven, die zeer wreed waren, alzo dat niemand door dien weg kon voorbij gaan.

— Lorsqu'il fut à l'autre bord, dans le pays des Gadaréniens, deux démoniaques, sortant des sépulcres, vinrent au-devant de lui. Ils étaient si furieux que personne n'osait passer par là.

Matthew 8:29

^CA jah sai, hropidedun qiþandans: ƕa uns jah þus, Iesu, sunau gudis? qamt her faur mel balwjan unsis?

— καὶ ἰδοὺ ἔκραξαν λέγοντες, τί ἡμῖν καὶ σοί, υἱὲ τοῦ θεοῦ; ἦλθες ὧδε πρὸ καιροῦ βασανίσαι ἡμᾶς;

— Et ecce clamaverunt, dicentes : Quid nobis et tibi, Jesu fili Dei ? Venisti huc ante tempus torquere nos ?

— And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?

— En ziet, zij riepen, zeggende: Jezus, Gij Zone Gods! wat hebben wij met U te doen? Zijt Gij hier gekomen om ons te pijnigen voor den tijd?

— Et voici, ils s'écrièrent: Qu'y a-t-il entre nous et toi, Fils de Dieu? Es-tu venu ici pour nous tourmenter avant le temps?

Matthew 8:30

^CA Wasuh þan fairra im hairda sweine managaize haldana.

— ἦν δὲ μακρὰν ἀπ' αὐτῶν ἀγέλη χοίρων πολλῶν βοσκομένη.

— Erat autem non longe ab illis grex multorum porcorum pascens.

— And there was a good way off from them an herd of many swine feeding.

— En verre van hen was een kudde veler zwijnen, weidende.

— Il y avait loin d'eux un grand troupeau de pourceaux qui paissaient.

Matthew 8:31

^CA iþ þo skohsla bedun ina qiþandans: jabai uswairpis uns, uslaubei uns galeiþan in þo hairda sweine.

— οἱ δὲ δαίμονες παρεκάλουν αὐτὸν λέγοντες, εἰ ἐκβάλλεις ἡμᾶς, ἀπόστειλον ἡμᾶς εἰς τὴν ἀγέλην τῶν χοίρων.

— Dæmones autem rogabant eum, dicentes : Si ejicis nos hinc, mitte nos in gregem porcorum.

— So the devils besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine.

— En de duivelen baden Hem, zeggende: Indien Gij ons uitwerpt, laat ons toe, dat wij in die kudde zwijnen varen.

— Les démons priaient Jésus, disant: Si tu nous chasses, envoie-nous dans ce troupeau de pourceaux.

Matthew 8:32

^CA jah qaþ du im: gaggiþ! iþ eis usgaggandans galiþun in hairda sweine; jah sai, run gawaurhtedun sis alla so hairda and driuson in marein jah gadauþnodedun in watnam.

— καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, ὑπάγετε. οἱ δὲ ἐξελθόντες ἀπῆλθον εἰς τοὺς χοίρους: καὶ ἰδοὺ ὥρμησεν πᾶσα ἡ ἀγέλη κατὰ τοῦ κρημνοῦ εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν, καὶ ἀπέθανον ἐν τοῖς ὕδασιν.

— Et ait illis : Ite. At illi exeuntes abierunt in porcos, et ecce impetu abiit totus grex per præceps in mare : et mortui sunt in aquis.

— And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.

— En Hij zeide tot hen: Gaat heen. En zij uitgaande, voeren heen in de kudde zwijnen; en ziet, de gehele kudde zwijnen stortte van de steilte af in de zee, en zij stierven in het water.

— Il leur dit: Allez! Ils sortirent, et entrèrent dans les pourceaux. Et voici, tout le troupeau se précipita des pentes escarpées dans la mer, et ils périrent dans les eaux.

Matthew 8:33

^CA iþ þai haldandans gaþlauhun jah galeiþandans gataihun in baurg all bi þans daimonarjans.

— οἱ δὲ βόσκοντες ἔφυγον, καὶ ἀπελθόντες εἰς τὴν πόλιν ἀπήγγειλαν πάντα καὶ τὰ τῶν δαιμονιζομένων.

— Pastores autem fugerunt : et venientes in civitatem, nuntiaverunt omnia, et de eis qui dæmonia habuerant.

— And they that kept them fled, and went their ways into the city, and told every thing, and what was befallen to the possessed of the devils.

— En die ze weidden, zijn gevlucht; en als zij in de stad gekomen waren, boodschapten zij al deze dingen, en wat den bezetenen geschied was.

— Ceux qui les faisaient paître s'enfuirent, et allèrent dans la ville raconter tout ce qui s'était passé et ce qui était arrivé aux démoniaques.

Matthew 8:34

^CA jah sai, alla so baurgs usiddja wiþra Iesu, jah gasaiƕandans ina bedun ei usliþi hindar markos ize.

— καὶ ἰδοὺ πᾶσα ἡ πόλις ἐξῆλθεν εἰς ὑπάντησιν τῷ ἰησοῦ, καὶ ἰδόντες αὐτὸν παρεκάλεσαν ὅπως μεταβῇ ἀπὸ τῶν ὁρίων αὐτῶν.

— Et ecce tota civitas exiit obviam Jesu : et viso eo, rogabant ut transiret a finibus eorum.

— And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought him that he would depart out of their coasts.

— En ziet, de gehele stad ging uit, Jezus tegemoet; en als zij Hem zagen, baden zij, dat Hij uit hun landpalen wilde vertrekken.

— Alors toute la ville sortit à la rencontre de Jésus; et, dès qu'ils le virent, ils le supplièrent de quitter leur territoire.
