Luke chapter 2

Luke 2:1

— ἐγένετο δὲ ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ἐκείναις ἐξῆλθεν δόγμα παρὰ καίσαρος αὐγούστου ἀπογράφεσθαι πᾶσαν τὴν οἰκουμένην.

— Factum est autem in diebus illis, exiit edictum a Cæsare Augusto ut describeretur universus orbis.

— And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.

— En het geschiedde in diezelfde dagen, dat er een gebod uitging van den Keizer Augustus, dat de gehele wereld beschreven zou worden.

— En ce temps-là parut un édit de César Auguste, ordonnant un recensement de toute la terre.

Luke 2:2

^CA soh þan gilstrameleins frumista warþ at [wisandin kindina Swriais] raginondin Saurim Kwreinaiau.

— αὕτη ἀπογραφὴ πρώτη ἐγένετο ἡγεμονεύοντος τῆς συρίας κυρηνίου.

— Hæc descriptio prima facta est a præside Syriæ Cyrino :

— (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)

— Deze eerste beschrijving geschiedde, als Cyrenius over Syrie stadhouder was.

— Ce premier recensement eut lieu pendant que Quirinius était gouverneur de Syrie.

Luke 2:3

^CA jah iddjedun allai, ei melidai weseina, ƕarjizuh in seinai baurg.

— καὶ ἐπορεύοντο πάντες ἀπογράφεσθαι, ἕκαστος εἰς τὴν ἑαυτοῦ πόλιν.

— et ibant omnes ut profiterentur singuli in suam civitatem.

— And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.

— En zij gingen allen om beschreven te worden, een iegelijk naar zijn eigen stad.

— Tous allaient se faire inscrire, chacun dans sa ville.

Luke 2:4

^CA Urrann þan jah Iosef us Galeilaia, us baurg Nazaraiþ, in Iudaian, in baurg Daweidis sei haitada Beþla<i>haim, duþe ei was us garda fadreinais Daweidis,

— ἀνέβη δὲ καὶ ἰωσὴφ ἀπὸ τῆς γαλιλαίας ἐκ πόλεως ναζαρὲθ εἰς τὴν ἰουδαίαν εἰς πόλιν δαυὶδ ἥτις καλεῖται βηθλέεμ, διὰ τὸ εἶναι αὐτὸν ἐξ οἴκου καὶ πατριᾶς δαυίδ,

— Ascendit autem et Joseph a Galilæa de civitate Nazareth in Judæam, in civitatem David, quæ vocatur Bethlehem : eo quod esset de domo et familia David,

— And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

— En Jozef ging ook op van Galilea, uit de stad Nazareth, naar Judea, tot de stad Davids, die Bethlehem genaamd wordt, (omdat hij uit het huis en geslacht van David was);

— Joseph aussi monta de la Galilée, de la ville de Nazareth, pour se rendre en Judée, dans la ville de David, appelée Bethléhem, parce qu'il était de la maison et de la famille de David,

Luke 2:5

^CA anameljan miþ Mariin sei in fragiftim was imma qeins, wisandein inkilþon.

— ἀπογράψασθαι σὺν μαριὰμ τῇ ἐμνηστευμένῃ αὐτῷ, οὔσῃ ἐγκύῳ.

— ut profiteretur cum Maria desponsata sibi uxore prægnante.

— To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.

— Om beschreven te worden met Maria, zijn ondertrouwde vrouw, welke bevrucht was.

— afin de se faire inscrire avec Marie, sa fiancée, qui était enceinte.

Luke 2:6

^CA warþ þan, miþþanei þo wesun jainar, usfullnodedun dagos du bairan izai.

— ἐγένετο δὲ ἐν τῷ εἶναι αὐτοὺς ἐκεῖ ἐπλήσθησαν αἱ ἡμέραι τοῦ τεκεῖν αὐτήν,

— Factum est autem, cum essent ibi, impleti sunt dies ut pareret.

— And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

— En het geschiedde, als zij daar waren, dat de dagen vervuld werden, dat zij baren zoude.

— Pendant qu'ils étaient là, le temps où Marie devait accoucher arriva,

Luke 2:7

^CA jah gabar sunu seinana þana frumabaur jah biwand ina jah galagida ina in uzetin, unte ni was im rumis in stada þamma.

— καὶ ἔτεκεν τὸν υἱὸν αὐτῆς τὸν πρωτότοκον: καὶ ἐσπαργάνωσεν αὐτὸν καὶ ἀνέκλινεν αὐτὸν ἐν φάτνῃ, διότι οὐκ ἦν αὐτοῖς τόπος ἐν τῷ καταλύματι.

— Et peperit filium suum primogenitum, et pannis eum involvit, et reclinavit eum in præsepio : quia non erat eis locus in diversorio.

— And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

— En zij baarde haar eerstgeboren Zoon, en wond Hem in doeken, en legde Hem neder in de kribbe, omdat voor henlieden geen plaats was in de herberg.

— et elle enfanta son fils premier-né. Elle l'emmaillota, et le coucha dans une crèche, parce qu'il n'y avait pas de place pour eux dans l'hôtellerie.

Luke 2:8

^CA jah hairdjos wesun in þamma samin landa, þairhwakandans jah witandans wahtwom nahts ufaro hairdai seinai.

— καὶ ποιμένες ἦσαν ἐν τῇ χώρᾳ τῇ αὐτῇ ἀγραυλοῦντες καὶ φυλάσσοντες φυλακὰς τῆς νυκτὸς ἐπὶ τὴν ποίμνην αὐτῶν.

— Et pastores erant in regione eadem vigilantes, et custodientes vigilias noctis super gregem suum.

— And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

— En er waren herders in diezelfde landstreek, zich houdende in het veld, en hielden de nachtwacht over hun kudde.

— Il y avait, dans cette même contrée, des bergers qui passaient dans les champs les veilles de la nuit pour garder leurs troupeaux.

Luke 2:9

^CA iþ aggilus fraujins anaqam ins jah wulþus fraujins biskain ins, jah ohtedun agisa mikilamma.

— καὶ ἄγγελος κυρίου ἐπέστη αὐτοῖς καὶ δόξα κυρίου περιέλαμψεν αὐτούς, καὶ ἐφοβήθησαν φόβον μέγαν.

— Et ecce angelus Domini stetit juxta illos, et claritas Dei circumfulsit illos, et timuerunt timore magno.

— And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

— En ziet, een engel des Heeren stond bij hen, en de heerlijkheid des Heeren omscheen hen, en zij vreesden met grote vreze.

— Et voici, un ange du Seigneur leur apparut, et la gloire du Seigneur resplendit autour d'eux. Ils furent saisis d'une grande frayeur.

Luke 2:10

^CA jah qaþ du im sa aggilus: ni ogeiþ, unte sai, spillo izwis faheid mikila, sei wairþiþ allai managein,

— καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς ὁ ἄγγελος, μὴ φοβεῖσθε, ἰδοὺ γὰρ εὐαγγελίζομαι ὑμῖν χαρὰν μεγάλην ἥτις ἔσται παντὶ τῷ λαῷ,

— Et dixit illis angelus : Nolite timere : ecce enim evangelizo vobis gaudium magnum, quod erit omni populo :

— And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

— En de engel zeide tot hen: Vreest niet, want, ziet, ik verkondig u grote blijdschap, die al den volke wezen zal;

— Mais l'ange leur dit: Ne craignez point; car je vous annonce une bonne nouvelle, qui sera pour tout le peuple le sujet d'une grande joie:

Luke 2:11

^CA þatei gabaurans ist izwis himma daga nasjands, saei ist Xristus frauja, in baurg Daweidis.

— ὅτι ἐτέχθη ὑμῖν σήμερον σωτὴρ ὅς ἐστιν χριστὸς κύριος ἐν πόλει δαυίδ:

— quia natus est vobis hodie Salvator, qui est Christus Dominus, in civitate David.

— For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

— Namelijk dat u heden geboren is de Zaligmaker, welke is Christus, de Heere, in de stad Davids.

— c'est qu'aujourd'hui, dans la ville de David, il vous est né un Sauveur, qui est le Christ, le Seigneur.

Luke 2:12

^CA jah þata izwis taikns: bigitid barn biwundan jah galagid in uzetin.

— καὶ τοῦτο ὑμῖν τὸ σημεῖον, εὑρήσετε βρέφος ἐσπαργανωμένον καὶ κείμενον ἐν φάτνῃ.

— Et hoc vobis signum : invenietis infantem pannis involutum, et positum in præsepio.

— And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

— En dit zal u het teken zijn: gij zult het Kindeken vinden in doeken gewonden, en liggende in de kribbe.

— Et voici à quel signe vous le reconnaîtrez: vous trouverez un enfant emmailloté et couché dans une crèche.

Luke 2:13

^CA jah anaks warþ miþ þamma aggilau managei harjis himinakundis hazjandane guþ jah qiþandane:

— καὶ ἐξαίφνης ἐγένετο σὺν τῷ ἀγγέλῳ πλῆθος στρατιᾶς οὐρανίου αἰνούντων τὸν θεὸν καὶ λεγόντων,

— Et subito facta est cum angelo multitudo militiæ cælestis laudantium Deum, et dicentium :

— And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

— En van stonde aan was er met den engel een menigte des hemelsen heirlegers, prijzende God en zeggende:

— Et soudain il se joignit à l'ange une multitude de l'armée céleste, louant Dieu et disant:

Luke 2:14

^CA wulþus in hauhistjam guda jah ana airþai gawairþi in mannam godis wiljins.

— δόξα ἐν ὑψίστοις θεῷ καὶ ἐπὶ γῆς εἰρήνη ἐν ἀνθρώποις εὐδοκίας.

— Gloria in altissimis Deo, et in terra pax hominibus bonæ voluntatis.

— Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

— Ere zij God in de hoogste hemelen, en vrede op aarde, in de mensen een welbehagen.

— Gloire à Dieu dans les lieux très hauts, Et paix sur la terre parmi les hommes qu'il agrée!

Luke 2:15

^CA jah warþ, biþe galiþun fairra im in himin þai aggiljus, jah þai mans þai hairdjos qeþun du sis misso: þairhgaggaima ju und Beþlahaim jah saiƕaima waurd þata waurþano, þatei frauja gakannida unsis.

— καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἀπῆλθον ἀπ' αὐτῶν εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν οἱ ἄγγελοι, οἱ ποιμένες ἐλάλουν πρὸς ἀλλήλους, διέλθωμεν δὴ ἕως βηθλέεμ καὶ ἴδωμεν τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο τὸ γεγονὸς ὃ ὁ κύριος ἐγνώρισεν ἡμῖν.

— Et factum est, ut discesserunt ab eis angeli in cælum : pastores loquebantur ad invicem : Transeamus usque Bethlehem, et videamus hoc verbum, quod factum est, quod Dominus ostendit nobis.

— And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.

— En het geschiedde, als de engelen van hen weggevaren waren naar de hemel, dat de herders tot elkander zeiden: Laat ons dan heengaan naar Bethlehem, en laat ons zien het woord, dat er geschied is, hetwelk de Heere ons heeft verkondigd.

— Lorsque les anges les eurent quittés pour retourner au ciel, les bergers se dirent les uns aux autres: Allons jusqu'à Bethléhem, et voyons ce qui est arrivé, ce que le Seigneur nous a fait connaître.

Luke 2:16

^CA jah qemun sniumjandans jah bigetun Marian jah Iosef jah þata barn ligando in uzetin.

— καὶ ἦλθαν σπεύσαντες καὶ ἀνεῦραν τήν τε μαριὰμ καὶ τὸν ἰωσὴφ καὶ τὸ βρέφος κείμενον ἐν τῇ φάτνῃ:

— Et venerunt festinantes : et invenerunt Mariam, et Joseph, et infantem positum in præsepio.

— And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.

— En zij kwamen met haast, en vonden Maria en Jozef, en het Kindeken liggende in de kribbe.

— Ils y allèrent en hâte, et ils trouvèrent Marie et Joseph, et le petit enfant couché dans la crèche.

Luke 2:17

^CA gasaiƕandans þan gakannidedun bi þata waurd þatei rodiþ was du im bi þata barn.

— ἰδόντες δὲ ἐγνώρισαν περὶ τοῦ ῥήματος τοῦ λαληθέντος αὐτοῖς περὶ τοῦ παιδίου τούτου.

— Videntes autem cognoverunt de verbo, quod dictum erat illis de puero hoc.

— And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.

— En als zij Het gezien hadden, maakten zij alom bekend het woord, dat hun van dit Kindeken gezegd was.

— Après l'avoir vu, ils racontèrent ce qui leur avait été dit au sujet de ce petit enfant.

Luke 2:18

^CA jah allai þai gahausjandans sildaleikidedun bi þo rodidona fram þaim hairdjam du im.

— καὶ πάντες οἱ ἀκούσαντες ἐθαύμασαν περὶ τῶν λαληθέντων ὑπὸ τῶν ποιμένων πρὸς αὐτούς:

— Et omnes qui audierunt, mirati sunt : et de his quæ dicta erant a pastoribus ad ipsos.

— And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.

— En allen, die het hoorden, verwonderden zich over hetgeen hun gezegd werd van de herders.

— Tous ceux qui les entendirent furent dans l'étonnement de ce que leur disaient les bergers.

Luke 2:19

^CA iþ Maria alla gafastaida þo waurda, þagkjandei in hairtin seinamma.

— ἡ δὲ μαριὰμ πάντα συνετήρει τὰ ῥήματα ταῦτα συμβάλλουσα ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ αὐτῆς.

— Maria autem conservabat omnia verba hæc, conferens in corde suo.

— But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.

— Doch Maria bewaarde deze woorden alle te zamen, overleggende die in haar hart.

— Marie gardait toutes ces choses, et les repassait dans son coeur.

Luke 2:20

^CA jah gawandidedun sik þai hairdjos mikiljandans jah hazjandans guþ in allaize þizeei gahausidedun jah gaseƕun swaswe rodiþ was du im.

— καὶ ὑπέστρεψαν οἱ ποιμένες δοξάζοντες καὶ αἰνοῦντες τὸν θεὸν ἐπὶ πᾶσιν οἷς ἤκουσαν καὶ εἶδον καθὼς ἐλαλήθη πρὸς αὐτούς.

— Et reversi sunt pastores glorificantes et laudantes Deum in omnibus quæ audierant et viderant, sicut dictum est ad illos.

— And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

— En de herders keerde wederom, verheerlijkende en prijzende God over alles, wat zij gehoord en gezien hadden, gelijk tot hen gesproken was.

— Et les bergers s'en retournèrent, glorifiant et louant Dieu pour tout ce qu'ils avaient entendu et vu, et qui était conforme à ce qui leur avait été annoncé.

Luke 2:21

^CA jah biþe usfulnodedun dagos ahtau du bimaitan ina, jah haitan was namo is Iesus, þata qiþano fram aggilau faurþizei ganumans wesi in wamba.

— καὶ ὅτε ἐπλήσθησαν ἡμέραι ὀκτὼ τοῦ περιτεμεῖν αὐτόν, καὶ ἐκλήθη τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ ἰησοῦς, τὸ κληθὲν ὑπὸ τοῦ ἀγγέλου πρὸ τοῦ συλλημφθῆναι αὐτὸν ἐν τῇ κοιλίᾳ.

— Et postquam consummati sunt dies octo, ut circumcideretur puer, vocatum est nomen ejus Jesus, quod vocatum est ab angelo priusquam in utero conciperetur.

— And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

— En als acht dagen vervuld waren, dat men het Kindeken besnijden zou, zo werd Zijn Naam genaamd JEZUS, welke genaamd was van den engel, eer Hij in het lichaam ontvangen was.

— Le huitième jour, auquel l'enfant devait être circoncis, étant arrivé, on lui donna le nom de Jésus, nom qu'avait indiqué l'ange avant qu'il fût conçu dans le sein de sa mère.

Luke 2:22

^CA jah biþe usfulnodedun dagos hraineinais ize bi witoda Mosezis, brahtedun ina in Iairusalem, atsatjan faura fraujin,

— καὶ ὅτε ἐπλήσθησαν αἱ ἡμέραι τοῦ καθαρισμοῦ αὐτῶν κατὰ τὸν νόμον μωϋσέως, ἀνήγαγον αὐτὸν εἰς ἱεροσόλυμα παραστῆσαι τῷ κυρίῳ,

— Et postquam impleti sunt dies purgationis ejus secundum legem Moysi, tulerunt illum in Jerusalem, ut sisterent eum Domino,

— And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord;

— En als de dagen harer reiniging vervuld waren, naar de wet van Mozes, brachten zij Hem te Jeruzalem, opdat zij Hem den Heere voorstelden;

— Et, quand les jours de leur purification furent accomplis, selon la loi de Moïse, Joseph et Marie le portèrent à Jérusalem, pour le présenter au Seigneur, -

Luke 2:23

^CA swaswe gamelid ist in witoda fraujins: þatei ƕazuh gumakundaize uslukands qiþu weihs fraujins haitada,

— καθὼς γέγραπται ἐν νόμῳ κυρίου ὅτι πᾶν ἄρσεν διανοῖγον μήτραν ἅγιον τῷ κυρίῳ κληθήσεται,

— sicut scriptum est in lege Domini : Quia omne masculinum adaperiens vulvam, sanctum Domino vocabitur :

— (As it is written in the law of the LORD, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord;)

— (Gelijk geschreven is in de wet des Heeren: Al wat mannelijk is, dat de moeder opent, zal den Heere heilig genaamd worden.)

— suivant ce qui est écrit dans la loi du Seigneur: Tout mâle premier-né sera consacré au Seigneur, -

Luke 2:24

^CA jah ei gebeina fram imma hunsl, swaswe qiþan ist in witoda fraujins, gajuk hraiwadubono aiþþau twos juggons ahake.

— καὶ τοῦ δοῦναι θυσίαν κατὰ τὸ εἰρημένον ἐν τῷ νόμῳ κυρίου, ζεῦγος τρυγόνων ἢ δύο νοσσοὺς περιστερῶν.

— et ut darent hostiam secundum quod dictum est in lege Domini, par turturum, aut duos pullos columbarum.

— And to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.

— En opdat zij offerande gaven, naar hetgeen in de wet des Heeren gezegd is, een paar tortelduiven, of twee jonge duiven.

— et pour offrir en sacrifice deux tourterelles ou deux jeunes pigeons, comme cela est prescrit dans la loi du Seigneur.

Luke 2:25

^CA þaruh was manna in Iairusalem, þizei namo Swmaion, jah sa manna was garaihts jah gudafaurhts, beidands laþonais Israelis, jah ahma weihs was ana imma.

— καὶ ἰδοὺ ἄνθρωπος ἦν ἐν ἰερουσαλὴμ ᾧ ὄνομα συμεών, καὶ ὁ ἄνθρωπος οὗτος δίκαιος καὶ εὐλαβής, προσδεχόμενος παράκλησιν τοῦ ἰσραήλ, καὶ πνεῦμα ἦν ἅγιον ἐπ' αὐτόν:

— Et ecce homo erat in Jerusalem, cui nomen Simeon, et homo iste justus, et timoratus, exspectans consolationem Israël : et Spiritus Sanctus erat in eo.

— And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.

— En ziet, er was een mens te Jeruzalem, wiens naam was Simeon; en deze mens was rechtvaardig en godvrezende; verwachtende de vertroosting Israels, en de Heilige Geest was op hem.

— Et voici, il y avait à Jérusalem un homme appelé Siméon. Cet homme était juste et pieux, il attendait la consolation d'Israël, et l'Esprit Saint était sur lui.

Luke 2:26

^CA jah was imma gataihan fram ahmin þamma weihin ni saiƕan dauþu, faurþize seƕi Xristu fraujins.

— καὶ ἦν αὐτῷ κεχρηματισμένον ὑπὸ τοῦ πνεύματος τοῦ ἁγίου μὴ ἰδεῖν θάνατον πρὶν [ἢ] ἂν ἴδῃ τὸν χριστὸν κυρίου.

— Et responsum acceperat a Spiritu Sancto, non visurum se mortem, nisi prius videret Christum Domini.

— And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ.

— En hem was een Goddelijke openbaring gedaan door den Heiligen Geest, dat hij den dood niet zien zoude, eer hij den Christus des Heeren zou zien.

— Il avait été divinement averti par le Saint Esprit qu'il ne mourrait point avant d'avoir vu le Christ du Seigneur.

Luke 2:27

^CA jah qam in ahmin in þizai alh; jah miþþanei innattauhun berusjos þata barn Iesu, ei tawidedeina bi biuhtja witodis bi ina,

— καὶ ἦλθεν ἐν τῷ πνεύματι εἰς τὸ ἱερόν: καὶ ἐν τῷ εἰσαγαγεῖν τοὺς γονεῖς τὸ παιδίον ἰησοῦν τοῦ ποιῆσαι αὐτοὺς κατὰ τὸ εἰθισμένον τοῦ νόμου περὶ αὐτοῦ

— Et venit in spiritu in templum. Et cum inducerent puerum Jesum parentes ejus, ut facerent secundum consuetudinem legis pro eo,

— And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,

— En hij kwam door den Geest in den tempel. En als de ouders het Kindeken Jezus inbrachten, om naar de gewoonte der wet met Hem te doen;

— Il vint au temple, poussé par l'Esprit. Et, comme les parents apportaient le petit enfant Jésus pour accomplir à son égard ce qu'ordonnait la loi,

Luke 2:28

^CA jah is andnam ina ana armins seinans jah þiuþida guda jah qaþ:

— καὶ αὐτὸς ἐδέξατο αὐτὸ εἰς τὰς ἀγκάλας καὶ εὐλόγησεν τὸν θεὸν καὶ εἶπεν,

— et ipse accepit eum in ulnas suas : et benedixit Deum, et dixit :

— Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said,

— Zo nam hij Hetzelve in zijn armen, en loofde God, en zeide:

— il le reçut dans ses bras, bénit Dieu, et dit:

Luke 2:29

^CA nu fraleitais skalk þeinana, [fraujinond] frauja, bi waurda þeinamma in gawairþja;

— νῦν ἀπολύεις τὸν δοῦλόν σου, δέσποτα, κατὰ τὸ ῥῆμά σου ἐν εἰρήνῃ:

— Nunc dimittis servum tuum Domine, secundum verbum tuum in pace :

— Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:

— A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.

— Een Licht tot verlichting der heidenen, en tot heerlijkheid van Uw volk Israel.

— Lumière pour éclairer les nations, Et gloire d'Israël, ton peuple.

Luke 2:33

— Et erat pater ejus et mater mirantes super his quæ dicebantur de illo.

— And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him.

— En Jozef en Zijn moeder verwonderden zich over hetgeen van Hem gezegd werd.

— Son père et sa mère étaient dans l'admiration des choses qu'on disait de lui.

Luke 2:34

— καὶ εὐλόγησεν αὐτοὺς συμεὼν καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς μαριὰμ τὴν μητέρα αὐτοῦ, ἰδοὺ οὗτος κεῖται εἰς πτῶσιν καὶ ἀνάστασιν πολλῶν ἐν τῷ ἰσραὴλ καὶ εἰς σημεῖον ἀντιλεγόμενον

— Et benedixit illis Simeon, et dixit ad Mariam matrem ejus : Ecce positus est hic in ruinam et in resurrectionem multorum in Israël, et in signum cui contradicetur :

— And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against;

— En Simeon zegende henlieden, en zeide tot Maria, Zijn moeder: Zie, Deze wordt gezet tot een val en opstanding veler in Israel, en tot een teken, dat wedersproken zal worden.

— Siméon les bénit, et dit à Marie, sa mère: Voici, cet enfant est destiné à amener la chute et le relèvement de plusieurs en Israël, et à devenir un signe qui provoquera la contradiction,

Luke 2:35

— καὶ σοῦ [δὲ] αὐτῆς τὴν ψυχὴν διελεύσεται ῥομφαία, ὅπως ἂν ἀποκαλυφθῶσιν ἐκ πολλῶν καρδιῶν διαλογισμοί.

— et tuam ipsius animam pertransibit gladius ut revelentur ex multis cordibus cogitationes.

— (Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.

— (En ook een zwaard zal door uw eigen ziel gaan) opdat de gedachten uit vele harten geopenbaard worden.

— et à toi-même une épée te transpercera l'âme, afin que les pensées de beaucoup de coeurs soient dévoilées.

Luke 2:36

— καὶ ἦν ἅννα προφῆτις, θυγάτηρ φανουήλ, ἐκ φυλῆς ἀσήρ: αὕτη προβεβηκυῖα ἐν ἡμέραις πολλαῖς, ζήσασα μετὰ ἀνδρὸς ἔτη ἑπτὰ ἀπὸ τῆς παρθενίας αὐτῆς,

— Et erat Anna prophetissa, filia Phanuel, de tribu Aser : hæc processerat in diebus multis, et vixerat cum viro suo annis septem a virginitate sua.

— And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity;

— En er was Anna, een profetesse, een dochter van Fanuel, uit den stam van Aser; deze was tot groten ouderdom gekomen, welke met haar man zeven jaren had geleefd van haar maagdom af.

— Il y avait aussi une prophétesse, Anne, fille de Phanuel, de la tribu d'Aser. Elle était fort avancée en âge, et elle avait vécu sept ans avec son mari depuis sa virginité.

Luke 2:37

— καὶ αὐτὴ χήρα ἕως ἐτῶν ὀγδοήκοντα τεσσάρων, ἣ οὐκ ἀφίστατο τοῦ ἱεροῦ νηστείαις καὶ δεήσεσιν λατρεύουσα νύκτα καὶ ἡμέραν.

— Et hæc vidua usque ad annos octoginta quatuor : quæ non discedebat de templo, jejuniis et obsecrationibus serviens nocte ac die.

— And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.

— En zij was een weduwe van omtrent vier en tachtig jaren, dewelke niet week uit den tempel, met vasten en bidden, God dienende nacht en dag.

— Restée veuve, et âgée de quatre vingt-quatre ans, elle ne quittait pas le temple, et elle servait Dieu nuit et jour dans le jeûne et dans la prière.

Luke 2:38

— καὶ αὐτῇ τῇ ὥρᾳ ἐπιστᾶσα ἀνθωμολογεῖτο τῷ θεῷ καὶ ἐλάλει περὶ αὐτοῦ πᾶσιν τοῖς προσδεχομένοις λύτρωσιν ἰερουσαλήμ.

— Et hæc, ipsa hora superveniens, confitebatur Domino : et loquebatur de illo omnibus, qui exspectabant redemptionem Israël.

— And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.

— En deze, te dierzelfder ure daarbij komende, heeft insgelijks den Heere beleden, en sprak van Hem tot allen, die de verlossing in Jeruzalem verwachtten.

— Étant survenue, elle aussi, à cette même heure, elle louait Dieu, et elle parlait de Jésus à tous ceux qui attendaient la délivrance de Jérusalem.

Luke 2:39

— καὶ ὡς ἐτέλεσαν πάντα τὰ κατὰ τὸν νόμον κυρίου, ἐπέστρεψαν εἰς τὴν γαλιλαίαν εἰς πόλιν ἑαυτῶν ναζαρέθ.

— Et ut perfecerunt omnia secundum legem Domini, reversi sunt in Galilæam in civitatem suam Nazareth.

— And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.

— En als zij alles voleindigd hadden, wat naar de wet des Heeren te doen was, keerden zij weder naar Galilea, tot hun stad Nazareth.

— Lorsqu'ils eurent accompli tout ce qu'ordonnait la loi du Seigneur, Joseph et Marie retournèrent en Galilée, à Nazareth, leur ville.

Luke 2:40

— τὸ δὲ παιδίον ηὔξανεν καὶ ἐκραταιοῦτο πληρούμενον σοφίᾳ, καὶ χάρις θεοῦ ἦν ἐπ' αὐτό.

— Puer autem crescebat, et confortabatur plenus sapientia : et gratia Dei erat in illo.

— And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.

— En het Kindeken wies op, en werd gesterkt in den geest, en vervuld met wijsheid; en de genade Gods was over Hem.

— Or, l'enfant croissait et se fortifiait. Il était rempli de sagesse, et la grâce de Dieu était sur lui.

Luke 2:41

— καὶ ἐπορεύοντο οἱ γονεῖς αὐτοῦ κατ' ἔτος εἰς ἰερουσαλὴμ τῇ ἑορτῇ τοῦ πάσχα.

— Et ibant parentes ejus per omnes annos in Jerusalem, in die solemni Paschæ.

— Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover.

— En Zijn ouders reisden alle jaar naar Jeruzalem, op het feest van pascha.

— Les parents de Jésus allaient chaque année à Jérusalem, à la fête de Pâque.

Luke 2:42

— καὶ ὅτε ἐγένετο ἐτῶν δώδεκα, ἀναβαινόντων αὐτῶν κατὰ τὸ ἔθος τῆς ἑορτῆς

— Et cum factus esset annorum duodecim, ascendentibus illis Jerosolymam secundum consuetudinem diei festi,

— And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast.

— En toen Hij twaalf jaren oud geworden was, en zij naar Jeruzalem opgegaan waren, naar de gewoonte van den feestdag;

— Lorsqu'il fut âgé de douze ans, ils y montèrent, selon la coutume de la fête.

Luke 2:43

— καὶ τελειωσάντων τὰς ἡμέρας, ἐν τῷ ὑποστρέφειν αὐτοὺς ὑπέμεινεν ἰησοῦς ὁ παῖς ἐν ἰερουσαλήμ, καὶ οὐκ ἔγνωσαν οἱ γονεῖς αὐτοῦ.

— consummatisque diebus, cum redirent, remansit puer Jesus in Jerusalem, et non cognoverunt parentes ejus.

— And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it.

— En de dagen aldaar voleindigd hadden, toen zij wederkeerden, bleef het Kind Jezus te Jeruzalem, en Jozef en Zijn moeder wisten het niet.

— Puis, quand les jours furent écoulés, et qu'ils s'en retournèrent, l'enfant Jésus resta à Jérusalem. Son père et sa mère ne s'en aperçurent pas.

Luke 2:44

— νομίσαντες δὲ αὐτὸν εἶναι ἐν τῇ συνοδίᾳ ἦλθον ἡμέρας ὁδὸν καὶ ἀνεζήτουν αὐτὸν ἐν τοῖς συγγενεῦσιν καὶ τοῖς γνωστοῖς,

— Existimantes autem illum esse in comitatu, venerunt iter diei, et requirebant eum inter cognatos et notos.

— But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day's journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance.

— Maar menende, dat Hij in het gezelschap op den weg was, gingen zij een dagreize, en zochten Hem onder de magen, en onder de bekenden.

— Croyant qu'il était avec leurs compagnons de voyage, ils firent une journée de chemin, et le cherchèrent parmi leurs parents et leurs connaissances.

Luke 2:45

^CA jah ni bigitandona ina gawandidedun sik in Iairusalem sokjandona ina.

— καὶ μὴ εὑρόντες ὑπέστρεψαν εἰς ἰερουσαλὴμ ἀναζητοῦντες αὐτόν.

— Et non invenientes, regressi sunt in Jerusalem, requirentes eum.

— And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him.

— En als zij Hem niet vonden, keerden zij wederom naar Jeruzalem, Hem zoekende.

— Mais, ne l'ayant pas trouvé, ils retournèrent à Jérusalem pour le chercher.

Luke 2:46

— καὶ ἐγένετο μετὰ ἡμέρας τρεῖς εὗρον αὐτὸν ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ καθεζόμενον ἐν μέσῳ τῶν διδασκάλων καὶ ἀκούοντα αὐτῶν καὶ ἐπερωτῶντα αὐτούς:

— Et factum est, post triduum invenerunt illum in templo sedentem in medio doctorum, audientem illos, et interrogantem eos.

— And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions.

— En het geschiedde, na drie dagen, dat zij Hem vonden in den tempel, zittende in het midden der leraren, hen horende, en hen ondervragende.

— Au bout de trois jours, ils le trouvèrent dans le temple, assis au milieu des docteurs, les écoutant et les interrogeant.

Luke 2:47

^CA usgeisnodedun þan allai þai hausjandans is ana frodein jah andawaurdjam is.

— ἐξίσταντο δὲ πάντες οἱ ἀκούοντες αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τῇ συνέσει καὶ ταῖς ἀποκρίσεσιν αὐτοῦ.

— Stupebant autem omnes qui eum audiebant, super prudentia et responsis ejus.

— And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.

— En allen, die Hem hoorden, ontzetten zich over Zijn verstand en antwoorden.

— Tous ceux qui l'entendaient étaient frappés de son intelligence et de ses réponses.

Luke 2:48

— καὶ ἰδόντες αὐτὸν ἐξεπλάγησαν, καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτὸν ἡ μήτηρ αὐτοῦ, τέκνον, τί ἐποίησας ἡμῖν οὕτως; ἰδοὺ ὁ πατήρ σου κἀγὼ ὀδυνώμενοι ἐζητοῦμέν σε.

— Et videntes admirati sunt. Et dixit mater ejus ad illum : Fili, quid fecisti nobis sic ? ecce pater tuus et ego dolentes quærebamus te.

— And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.

— En zij, Hem ziende, werden verslagen; en Zijn moeder zeide tot Hem: Kind! waarom hebt Gij ons zo gedaan? Zie, Uw vader en ik hebben U met angst gezocht.

— Quand ses parents le virent, ils furent saisis d'étonnement, et sa mère lui dit: Mon enfant, pourquoi as-tu agi de la sorte avec nous? Voici, ton père et moi, nous te cherchions avec angoisse.

Luke 2:49

^CA jah qaþ du im: ƕa þatei sokideduþ mik? niu wisseduþ þatei in þaim attins meinis skulda wisan?

— καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς, τί ὅτι ἐζητεῖτέ με; οὐκ ᾔδειτε ὅτι ἐν τοῖς τοῦ πατρός μου δεῖ εἶναί με;

— Et ait ad illos : Quid est quod me quærebatis ? nesciebatis quia in his quæ Patris mei sunt, oportet me esse ?

— And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?

— En Hij zeide tot hen: Wat is het, dat gij Mij gezocht hebt? Wist gij niet, dat Ik moet zijn in de dingen Mijns Vaders?

— Il leur dit: Pourquoi me cherchiez-vous? Ne saviez-vous pas qu'il faut que je m'occupe des affaires de mon Père?

Luke 2:50

— καὶ αὐτοὶ οὐ συνῆκαν τὸ ῥῆμα ὃ ἐλάλησεν αὐτοῖς.

— Et ipsi non intellexerunt verbum quod locutus est ad eos.

— And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them.

— En zij verstonden het woord niet, dat Hij tot hen sprak.

— Mais ils ne comprirent pas ce qu'il leur disait.

Luke 2:51

— καὶ κατέβη μετ' αὐτῶν καὶ ἦλθεν εἰς ναζαρέθ, καὶ ἦν ὑποτασσόμενος αὐτοῖς. καὶ ἡ μήτηρ αὐτοῦ διετήρει πάντα τὰ ῥήματα ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ αὐτῆς.

— Et descendit cum eis, et venit Nazareth : et erat subditus illis. Et mater ejus conservabat omnia verba hæc in corde suo.

— And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.

— En Hij ging met hen af, en kwam te Nazareth, en was hun onderdanig. En Zijn moeder bewaarde al deze dingen in haar hart.

— Puis il descendit avec eux pour aller à Nazareth, et il leur était soumis. Sa mère gardait toutes ces choses dans son coeur.

Luke 2:52

^CA jah Iesus þaih frodein jah wahstau jah anstai at guda jah mannam.

— καὶ ἰησοῦς προέκοπτεν [ἐν τῇ] σοφίᾳ καὶ ἡλικίᾳ καὶ χάριτι παρὰ θεῷ καὶ ἀνθρώποις.

— Et Jesus proficiebat sapientia, et ætate, et gratia apud Deum et homines.

— And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

— En Jezus nam toe in wijsheid, en in grootte, en in genade bij God en de mensen.

— Et Jésus croissait en sagesse, en stature, et en grâce, devant Dieu et devant les hommes.
